Sometimes instead of therapy, all u need is a good day
out where u pretend its the 2010s again.
It's waaayyy past June, but here's a little documentation of this fun day I had all the way back in June! I figured I'd share some old content because 1. I never shared it yet, I might as well!! and 2. I just genuinely really like this day. It was one of my more memorable moments of this year and I'm really happy to share some of the fun memories I made this year.
I woke up feeling really ick so I decided to cozy up and watch one of my comfort shows with Nickel :) Unfortunately, (but later, Fortunately) my family decided to drag me out of bed with a very sudden on-a-whim adventure. So I begrudgingly complied, getting out of bed and getting ready.
We took a nice long car ride and I did actually end up really enjoying it. I've been getting back into a lot of the artists and genres I used to be into as a young teen (mostly indie folk stuff lol), so listening to that on a warm, sunny day with the car windows down was honestly super refreshing.
When we got to our destination, I couldn't help but be enamoured by all the colours and sights. I whipped out my camera (which was still freshly new to me at the time, btw, so I was having a lot of fun filming things in camcorder mode and taking photos) and started documenting everything I found fascinating.

There were a lot of fun signs, murals, and writings to marvel at. Literally every corner of every surface was just so interesting. From smileys on the floor, alligator statues on the ceilings, random positive writing on the elevator walls...? There was just so much to look at and take in, it was really cool.
My family and I went to get some food and enjoy the day and then walk around for a little. We got to listen to the birds and the boats, the people walking along the beach, yadda yadda.
We stopped by this little ice cream and boba place right along the dock where the boats were all lined up. Super cute and quaint place, the owners were very welcoming and kind to us. They had this really cool polaroid wall where people could get special photos and have them hung up as a memory that they've been there. I love things like that so much. Seeing all the different people from different places and during different times in their lives, all for different reasons, too. It's so fascinating to me. I love knowing that everyone is living their own lives... it's always been so interesting getting a little peek into a life you'll never get to know.

Then as we walked along, we got to see some more really cool murals in the area as we walked along the stores lining the beach. There was this shop called The Vibe that gave me a very 2010s vaporwave nostalgia. I couldn't help but take a picture, it just felt right to capture the nostalgia of it lol.
I really love the murals in this area. They're so cute and fun and colorful. As if the buildings aren't colorful and attention-grabbing enough, the murals add a really nice and lively touch to the area. I know some people find these kinds of murals kinda tacky, but I love them. There's such a specific charm to it that I really can't get over. Maybe it's because I grew up going to schools and hospitals with these kinds of fun little murals, but I have such a love for them and how much a splash mural can really bring some needed fun to a space. Look how adorable these are!! All the little colorful critters!

There was a shop I stopped inside (the building with the fish mural) with all these beautiful pieces of jewelry and accessories. While my family sat down for a little in the shade, I got the chance to browse inside and really look at all the details on each product that caught my eye. There was really something for almost everyone in there!! Personally, my favorite pieces were the colorful ones (I wish there were more of!!). I liked the kids sections specifically (No one's surprised) because of the cute packaging and colors. Look at those fun sunglasses frames!! And the beads on those necklaces! I was thinking about how perfect they'd be for a kidcore or pastel-girly or even decora-themed outfit. Maybe next time I visit this area, I'll have to check out their new products and get something! I sure was tempted.

My brothers and I filmed some silly little bits, too. I like filming silly videos with people, it makes for fun memories together. In a lot of my videos, I was zooming in on some of the products in the stores because this brand in particular kept catching my eye.
I don't know how many of you know, but one of my interests is a "niche" internet meme from the 2010s called Ratboy Genius. It's a mixed-media(?) animated webseries by Ryan Dorin, focusing on the protagonist Ratboy Genius. One of my favorite things about the webseries' brand is the artistic visual-style. Aside from the uncanny valley 3D animation, I think the initial iconic 2D hand-drawn digital art style of RBG is one of its biggest draws and charms.
The art style for this brand of clothes really reminds me so much of the Ratboy Genius 2D art style, I felt almost Obligated to photograph it. It felt a little too right to pass up, you know? Like the universe was like "Hey, you like this thing, so here's something that reminds you of that!!" I was almost tempted enough to buy one of the shirts!!! From the neon bright eye-sore color palette, to the monstrous, disproportionate, fantastical, child-like drawings of aquatic (almost alien-esque) creatures/fish. It just felt so right. It was calling out to me haha.
